Special Operations Team

The Tahlequah Police Department Special Operations
Team (S.O.T.) is an added dimension of the Tahlequah Police Department.
It consists of specially trained and equipped officers who perform
certain duties, functions and tasks as assigned by the Tahlequah Police
Department, which require specialized training and equipment. The
Tahlequah Police Department recognizes the presence of a highly trained,
highly skilled police Special Operations Team has been shown to
substantially reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens,
police officers and suspects; and recognizing that a well managed “team”
response to critical incidents usually results in successful resolution
of critical incidents. It is the intent of the Tahlequah Police
Department Special Operations Team to provide a highly trained and
skilled tactical team as a resource for citizens in the City of
Tahlequah and local law enforcement agencies.
There are currently 15 members of the Special
Operations Team. Bryan Swim
is the Team Leader. All members train twice a month and as a team are
members of the National Tactical Officers Association. The S.O.T. works
in coalition with several agencies, including but not limited to, the
District 27 Drug Task Force, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, State and
Federal Agencies.
