Tahlequah Police Department
K-9 Unit
Handlers Elden Graves and
Todd Carnes have been and continue to train extensively with the dogs.
Tedy is certified in narcotics detection and criminal apprehension.
Duke is certified in narcotics detection and tracking. In March 2008
Major, a Belgium Malinois, joined the department. Major is trained in
explosives and criminal apprehension. He was generously donated to the
Tahlequah Police Department by Mike Best. The canines and their
handlers continue to train extensively to be prepared for not only
emergency situations but public relation activities. They visit the
schools regularly and can be requested for public demonstrations.
Tahlequah K-9 Officer
Elden Graves and Graves’ partner, Tedy, a German shepherd,
were chosen the Region 2 K-9 Team of the Year for 2008-’09.
