Frequently Asked Questions:

1.)  How many bags can I place on my curb for removal?
      10 bags per pickup, 30-gallon limit, and all trash needs to be in bags.

2.)  Where are you located?
      We are located on the corner of Basin and Kindle Avenues.

3.)  How many times a week is my trash collected?
      Waste is once a week. See our service schedule for details.

4.)  What are your office hours?
      Hours are from 6:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday.  Saturday hours are 8:00am
        to 3:00pm.    

5.)  How are holidays handled?
      Consult our holiday schedule.

6.)  Where is Tahlequah's refuse taken?
      Muskogee Landfill

7.)  What items will the department not collect?
      No dirt, rock, brush, concrete, or tires will be accepted, and lumber must be less than 4
        board feet. There can be no commercial dumping without prior approval.

8.)  Do you have recycling facilities?
      Drop-off recycling is available at the transfer station.

9.)  How do I get rid of large appliances?
      There is a $10.00 fee if the appliance is brought to the transfer station. The fee is $20.00 if the appliance
        is to be picked up. In either case, no appliances with compressors may be accepted.

10.)  Do you pick up brush?
        No. The Street Department handles brush pickup. Leaves will be picked up on Wednesdays. (The
          process is expedited if a call is made in advance.)

12.)  How much is the service?

13.)  What are the dumpster rates?
        Commercial Rates:
               3 yard dumpster        $40.00 for a one day a week pick-up
               10 yard dumpster      $65.00/pickup
               12 yard dumpster      $75.00/pickup

          Construction Dumpster: (All have a $3.00 per day rent)
               10-12 yards are $125.00/per dump
               20 yards are $250.00/per dump
               30 yards are $300.00/per dump
              
                

14.)  How am I billed?
        Through the Tahlequah Public Works Authority on your utility bill.

15.)  How does the service compare to private trash services?
        Rural service $12.00 to $30.00 per week.

16.)  How many people work at Solid Waste Services?
        Twenty-three people are currently employed at the enterprise.

17.)  How do I apply for a position in the department?
        As with all positions with the City of Tahlequah, you must contact the Human Resources Director

18.)  Who do I contact if my trash is not being picked up?

          The trash service usually runs from
          6:00 am to 2:00 pm.
