Outdoor warning siren testing takes place on the second
Saturday of each month at noon, weather permitting. The testing process can take up to approximately 30 minutes to complete.
There are currently 10 outdoor warning sirens located in the Tahlequah city limits and two sirens near Cherokee Nation. Each siren's coverage area is approximately one-half mile.
In the photo below, each yellow circle signifies the reach for each siren. The sirens are primarily used to notify the public during tornado warnings.
